D&S MANUFACTURING INTEGRATES NEW CINCINNATI CL-850
LASER CUTTING SYSTEM

Black River Falls, Wis. — Michael Dougherty, President of D&S Manufacturing, announced that the company has recently incorporated the Cincinnati CL-850 5000 watt linear direct drive laser cutting system. “The CL-850 will play an important role as we continue to implement throughout our organization measures designed to increase capacity, shorten project lead times and eliminate unnecessary overhead,” Dougherty stated.

According to Shane Fritts, Production Manager, the CL-850 delivers impressive cutting speeds that are twice as fast as those achieved through the utilization of existing internal equipment technologies. The unit also boasts an expansive 72 inch by 144 inch table designed to more quickly manage larger components as well as orders with greater quantity requirements.

“In addition to processing more parts within a shorter production window, one of the most significant benefits of the CL-850 is its potential to eliminate steps in the manufacturing process,” explained Fritts. “The new laser is able to accommodate a wider range of materials, including stainless steel, with thicknesses as great as 1.125 inches. The system also delivers an edge quality that is superior to high definition plasma cutting and in many scenarios will reduce our need to perform multiple machining and cutting operations,” Fritts concluded.

As the company’s second laser cutting system capable of addressing stainless steel, the Cincinnati CL-850 provides D&S additional operational adaptability. Therefore, D&S will be able to more easily and flexibly manage demand, which will, in turn, result in improved on time delivery rates.
