D&S MANUFACTURING EMPLOYEES PRESENT TIME AND COST SAVING STRATEGIES AT EPICOR® GLOBAL USER CONFERENCE

Black River Falls, Wis. — Michael Dougherty, President of D&S Manufacturing, announced that company representatives served as presenters at EPICOR®’s Global User Conference October 10 – October 13, 2010, in Orlando, Florida.

According to Dougherty, D&S’s use of EPICOR’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software allows the company to manage the entire order cycle, from quoting, production and planning to logistics, billing and payroll. “Our ability to maintain immediate access to critical data has enabled D&S employees to implement a variety of progressive programs that have dramatically improved the efficiency and productivity of our operations. We welcomed the opportunity to share these strategies with other users,” he explained.

In his presentation, Chief Financial Officer Tony Ptacek described how the use of ERP software has enabled the D&S team to close the accounting month within hours – not days – while ensuring that everything is in place for the new month by the following morning’s opening of business. As part of the process to facilitate a faster close, Ptacek emphasized D&S’s success in significantly reducing labor reporting errors.

Production Control Manager Rob Bucek spotlighted the benefits D&S experienced by extending their traditional production operations to include integration of nesting software. The company has also leveraged other EPICOR® lean tools to reduce steps in the production process. These include automation of post nested material usage and labor collection. During the presentation, Norm Converse, Network Administrator at D&S, provided insight on the results that were achieved by using the lean tools provided by EPICOR.
