What's New

Black River Falls, Wis. — Michael Dougherty, President & CEO of D&S Manufacturing, announced that the company’s Chief Financial Officer, Tony Ptacek, and Production Control Manager, Rob Bucek, are slated to speak at the Epicor® Global Customer Conference Insights 2012. This year’s event is scheduled for May 6 – May 9, 2012, at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ptacek’s seminar will focus on how D&S’s utilization of Epicor’s ERP advanced comprehensive networked information and scheduling system software, which has enabled the company to efficiently complete month end closing procedures within a matter of hours, has improved the company’s short- and long-term planning processes. During his presentation, Ptacek will discuss the importance of strong job cost control and how D&S has significantly reduced labor reporting errors as part of its procedure to facilitate a faster close.

“The successful implementation of this program requires that all production employees, as well as management staff, make it an ongoing top priority. By emphasizing collaboration and accountability among members of various departments, we have been very successful in identifying and eliminating potential delays, which has streamlined the reporting process,” Ptacek explained.

Bucek’s presentation will highlight the advantages of utilizing Epicor® software in the plant scheduling process while outlining generally accepted finite scheduling theory and best practice strategies. His discussion will emphasize the importance of resource identification, capacity planning and the ability to measure identified objectives so that outcomes can be controlled. To facilitate this process, a gate keeper is responsible for managing time fences and negotiating changing requests among internal and external stakeholders.

“As a result of leveraging the extensive capabilities of Epicor software, D&S has witnessed improvements in on-time delivery rates, as well as significant increases in velocity, due to more accurate demand forecasting and the ability to more effectively manage job priorities,” Bucek concluded.
